Soy protein is generally regarded as the storage protein held in discrete particles called protein bodies, which are estimated to contain at least 60–70% of the total soybean protein. Upon germination of the soybean, the protein will be digested, and the released amino acids will be transported to locations of seedling growth.

Diets low in saturated fat and cholesterol that include 25 grams of soy protein a day may reduce the risk of heart disease.

Recent studies have shown that soy protein taken by active individuals helps support muscles during exercise.

Soy is the only complete protein that is from a plant; it contains all of the essential amino acids including BCAA - leucine, isoleucine and valine.

Soy Protein is cholesterol and lactose free. •Non-GMO •Supports Hormonal Balance & Bone Health •To Meet the Changing Needs of Women Soy is a natural source of isoflavones that provide benefits such as hormonal balance support and bone health. The amount of soy isoflavones necessary to achieve these benefits can be difficult to incorporate into today's diet.

Soy Isoflavones support the changing nutritional needs of women throughout all stages of life. Soy Isoflavones have phyto-estrogenic activity and may be beneficial in lowering the risk of cancer, heart disease, osteoporosis, easing menopausal symptoms, balancing cholesterol levels, and inhibiting tumor development.

Soy nuts are highly nutritious and delicious. Soy beans are probably the single most versatile crop in the world. They are used to make tofu, soy sauce, miso, alimentary pastes, food oils, baby food, beer, candy, cereals, diet foods, grits, hypo allergenic milk, meat substitutes, noodles, yeast, candy, coffee creamers, pharmaceuticals and on and on. Japanese diets are traditionally high in soy.

The studies of Dr. Mary Jane Minkin, a clinical professor of obstetrics and gynecology at Yale University, concentrated on the high consumption of isoflavones, the phytoestrogens found in soybeans, and their utility to menopausal women. According to the Seattle-based United Soybean Board, the Japanese eat 200 milligrams of isoflavones a day, as compared with just 5 mg. for the average American. Dr. Minkin describes study results as 'brilliant,' citing a decrease of both the frequency and severity of hot flashes in women who increased their soy consumption. More exciting, she says, is that soy may reduce the risk of heart disease and osteoporosis, both diseases with higher incidence among post-menopausal women, and higher among Americans than Japanese.

Mark Messina, Ph.D., an adjunct associate professor of nutrition at Loma Linda University in Loma Linda, Calif., and the author of 'The Simple Soybean and Your Health,' says further research is needed before he'll be convinced of a link between hot flashes and soy. Even in the definitive research, women had to increase soy intake, both from supplements and by adding soy foods to their diets.

Alfalfa extract powder can be used as tea, supplement and food additive. Extract Powder is, in effect, concentrated alfalfa leaf.

This sweet-smelling nutritive grass is one of the most nutritious foods in the world. Alfalfa is a rich source of Vitamins A, B Complex, C, D, E, K, biotin, carotenes, calcium, phosphorus, choline, inositol, PABA, octacosonal, trace minerals including iron, potassium, magnesium, phosphorus, sodium, chlorophyll, and many other nutrients.

It is an excellent tonic for the whole body, and it may help build iron levels in blood.

Animal studies indicate that Alfalfa's saponins block cholesterol aborption and thereby prevent arterial plaque.

Alfalfa's isolflavones have an estrogen-like effect, thus confirming Alfalfa's traditonal use for menopausal symptoms,

It contains natural fluoride that may help rebuild tooth decay and strengthen tooth enamel.

It is a good infection fighter and and may help cleanse the body of toxins.

Alfalfa, containing eight digestive enzymes, thereby aiding the digestion of protein, fat, and carbohydrates. The resultant improved assimilation is helpful for gastritis, indigestion, morning sickness, and nausea.

Alfalfa tea is an appetite stimulator. Good for the pituitary gland and to help the quantity and quality of mother’s milk. ~Two tablespoons of Alfalfa leaf contain: ~twice as much calcium as an ordinary glass of milk...Almost as much protein as one hamburger...Nearly the same amount of iron as two ounces of liver...Enough B-complex to soothe upset nerves...Plenty of enzymes for good metabolism of ingested fats...Sufficient fiber to lower high cholesterol.

American Materia Medica, 1919 (Ellingwood): 'On taking large doses of an infusion of the leaves of alfalfa as one would drink tea or coffee, there is a sensation of warmth in the stomach with fullness of the blood vessels of the head.'

'There is an increased secretion of the kidneys from this agent and in the female, of the milk glands; increased peristaltic action of the bowels; increased appetite; increased assimilation of food, and increased weight.'

'In every case so administered, the patient showed a satisfactory increase in flesh and strength. The digestive apparatus, whatever the disorder, assumed its normal function, and in some cases the patients took on a fair increase in flesh.'

'Dr. Bradley believes that a tea made of alfalfa will readily take the place of ordinary tea and coffee, and as a beverage for certain periods, he has found it to take away the taste for these commoner beverages and preserve an excellent condition of the stomach.'

'He finds in alfalfa a superlative restorative tonic, but it does not act as a stimulant, after the manner of alcohol, cocaine or other habit-forming drugs.

It rejuvenates the whole system by increasing the strength, vim, vigor and vitality of the patient.

Branched-chain amino acids

Amino acids are the building blocks of protein; the body breaks consumed protein into amino acids in the stomach and intestines. There are three branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs): leucine, isoleucine, and valine. Each has numerous benefits on various biological processes in the body. Unlike other amino acids, BCAAs are metabolised in the muscle and have an anabolic/anti-catabolic effect on it.

Glutamine

Glutamine is the most abundant amino acid found in human muscle and is supplemented because supplement manufacturers claim the body's natural glutamine levels are depleted during anaerobic exercise. It is argued that bodybuilders should supplement with glutamine, as deficiency may lead to a weakened immune system and wasting of muscle tissue. It is sold as a micronized, instantly soluble powder. Some studies have shown there to be no significant effect of glutamine on bench press strength, knee-extension torque or lean muscle mass when compared to controls taking a placebo, though another study found that glutamine is beneficial in raising T-helper/suppressor cell ratio in long distance runners.

During intense exercise the body produces lactic acid for energy. The lactate is used up for energy and the hydrogen is left, dropping the pH in the muscle, causing a ‘burning’ fatigue. One of the amino acids that your body uses to counteract this acidosis caused by the lactic acid is the glutamine in your bloodstream. In order to replenish the loss of glutamine in the bloodstream, the body catabolises glutamine from the muscle. So supplementing with glutamine ensures there is always a constant supply for the muscles.

Essential fatty acids

Essential fatty acids are necessary nutrients, especially while bodybuilding. Bodybuilders often go on such a low fat diet that they become fat deficient. Fatty fish include salmon, trout, or mackerel; fish oils can also be taken in supplement form. Fish fats cannot readily be made in the body, but are required for various functions within the body to take place.

Polyunsaturated vegetable oils such as corn, sunflower, and safflower oils, cannot provide linoleic acid. Soybean oil is the only supermarket oil that contains linolenic acid. Flaxseed oil is an ideal source of α-Linolenic acid, which can also be found in walnuts and pumpkin seeds.

Obtained from coconut oil, medium chain triglycerides (MCTs) have an unjustified reputation in the world of bodybuilding. It is commonly believed that MCTs cannot be deposited into fat cells, but research has shown this to be incorrect. Although MCTs are rapidly available to the bloodstream, they don't give an athlete more strength, size speed, or endurance.

These are the most benign of fats in that they do not affect cholesterol or prostaglandins (regulators of hormone action) such as some polyunsaturated fats. Monounsaturated fats are found in olive oil and macadamia nuts.

Various supplements in health food stores contain essential fatty acids derived from fish oils and other sources.

Meal replacement products

Meal replacement products (MRPs) are either pre-packaged powdered drink mixes or edible bars designed to replace a prepared meal. Both are consumed in the place of a whole-food meal. Generally MRPs are high in protein, low in fat, have a low to moderate amount of carbohydrates, and contain a wide array of vitamins and minerals.

The majority of MRPs use whey protein, calcium caseinate or micellar casein, soy protein, and egg albumin as the protein source. Carbohydrates are typically derived from maltodextrin, oat fiber, brown rice, or wheat flour. Some also contain flax oil powder as a source of essential fatty acids.

MRPs can also contain other ingredients that are deemed beneficial to bodybuilders. These can include, but are not limited to: creatine monohydrate, glutamine peptides, L-glutamine, calcium alpha-ketoglutarate, additional amino acids, lactoferrin, conjugated linoleic acid, and medium chain triglycerides.

Creatine

Creatine is an organic acid naturally occurring in the body that supplies energy to muscle cells for short bursts of energy (such as lifting weights) via creatine phosphate replenishment of ATP. A number of scientific studies have shown that creatine can increase strength, energy, muscle mass, and reduce recovery time. In addition, recent studies have also shown that creatine improves brain function and reduces mental fatigue. Unlike steroids or other performance-enhancing drugs, creatine can be found naturally in many common foods such as herring, tuna, salmon, and beef, making it difficult to ban it from sporting competitions.

Protein Powders

Bodybuilding supplements are dietary supplements used for bodybuilding.

Protein

Bodybuilders often take a powdered form of protein, which contains the essential building blocks for muscle. The powder is mixed with water and often flavoring, resulting in a form marketed as a "shake" (as in milkshake) or "pudding". Protein powder is generally consumed immediately before and after exercising, or in place of a meal. The theory behind this supplementation is that having a sufficient protein intake allows for efficient growth and repair of muscle tissue.

  • Whey protein contains high levels of all the essential amino acids and branched-chain amino acids. It also has the highest content of the amino acid cysteine, which aids in the biosynthesis of glutathione. For Bodybuilders whey protein provides amino acid used to aid in muscle recovery.
  • Casein protein (or milk protein) has glutamine, and casomorphin.
  • Soy protein Soybeans contain isoflavones, a type of phytoestrogen.
  • Egg-white protein is a lactose- and dairy-free protein.
  • Hemp seed contains complete and highly-digestible protein and hemp oil is high in essential fatty acids.

Some health experts have criticized protein shakes as being unnecessary for most people that consume them, since most users already get enough protein in the normal diet. The body can only metabolize 5-9 grams of protein per hour; excessive daily intake can cause weight gain, kidney problems, or diarrhea. *

Protein Powders

One of the best protein sources you can use is Spirulina. Spirulina is “Blue-green algae” which describes a large and very bdiverse group of simple, plant-like organisms found in salt water and some large fresh water lakes.

People have been known to use blue-green algae for treating precancerous growths inside the mouth, for boosting the immune system, for improving memory, increasing energy and metabolism, lowering cholesterol, preventing heart disease, healing wounds, and improving digestion and bowel health. '

Mother used spirulina to stay alive when she was on a liquid diet for 3 months due to the radiation doctor she had that made 3rd degree burns over the inside of her mouth. Mother did not have cancer. Mother had something very rare called Histiocytosis X in the bone of her mouth.

Mother recommends Spirutein spirulina shakes wholeheartedly.[***Except for those people on anticoagulant therapies, they must first consult their doctors due to the high Vitamin K content of Spirulina]

Spirutein spirulina shakes

Whey protein is a co-product of the cheese making process. Whey protein is a high quality protein powder from cow's milk. Milk has two proteins: Casein (approximately 80%) and Whey Protein (approximately 20%). Whey protein is more soluble than casein and also has a higher quality rating. It is often referred to as the ''Gold Standard'' of protein as it is the most nutritious protein available. Protein is an important nutrient needed by everyone of a daily basis. It is made up of essential and non-essential amino acids, which are the ''building blocks'' for healthy bodies.

Protein has a number of different roles in the body including the following: Repair body cells Build and repair muscles and bones, Provide a source of energy, Control many of the important processes in the body related to metabolism. The body is able to make non-essential amino acids from other amino acids in the body. However, the body is not able to make essential amino acids and the only way to get them is by eating high quality protein foods. Protein sources that contain all of the essential amino acids are called complete proteins.

Whey protein is a naturally complete protein. Protein needs vary by person depending upon age, weight, sex, activity level and overall health. Athletes and individuals with special medical needs often need more protein than the recommended dietary allowance, or RDA. Whey protein is a high quality, complete protein, with all the essential amino acids. Whey protein is also the richest known source of naturally occurring branched chain amino acids (leucine, isoleucine and valine). These are important for active individuals, individuals who exercise and professional athletes.

Hemp Protein Powder is rich in whole food nutrition including all Essential Amino Acids (Protein), Omega 3 and Omega 6 Essential Fatty Acids (EFAs), and both soluble and insoluble dietary fiber.
