Alternate Energy Technologies
AET offers a large selection of flat plate solar cells and complete hot
water systems designed for business and home uses. Over 100 systems
are certified by the Florida Solar Energy Center and many models are
certified by Solar Rating SRCC.
AET Direct (Open Loop) System Kits
In a Direct or Open Loop system the potable water in the tank is
circulated directly from the storage tank to the collectors and back to
the tank. The hot water used by the consumer is the same hot water
that circulates through the collectors.
Ac Powered Solar Water Heating Kits
These Direct, or Open Loop systems work on standard
household current using special Taco solar pumps. These
pumps are very quiet, efficient, and reliable. The system
is protected from over-temperature (as a failsafe device) with a thermal
high temperature shut-off switch.
A Differential Temperature Controller (DTC) controls the pump.
It turns the pump on when the collector temperature sensor
is 16°F hotter than the storage tank sensor and is programmed
to work automatically.
Pv Powered Solar Water Heating Kits
These Direct PV or open loop PV systems include a
10 or 20 Watt Shell polycrystalline photo-voltaic panel,
depending on your personal needs. there is no
Differential Temperature Controller (DTC) to control the pump. The solar
panels are connected directly to a 12 or 24 Volt March DC circulation pump,
eliminating the need for a Temperature Controller to control the pump.
These PV systems will continue to produce hot water in times of
temporary grid failure and can be used in off grid applications.
AET Indirect (Closed Loop) System Kits
In an Indirect or Closed Loop system, the fluid circulating through
the collectors never comes in contact with the water in the storage tank.
A heat exchanger is used to transfer the heat from the circulating fluid
to the potable water.

Direct (Open Loop) System Kits
In a Direct or Open Loop System, the actual water being heated is circulated through the collectors. Not recommended in areas with very hard water or freezing temperatures.
Indirect (Closed Loop) System Kits
In an Indirect or Closed loop system a heat exchanger is used to transfer heat from the circulating fluid to the water being heated.

The FHA and others offer mortgages that allow you to install energy efficiency upgrades to your home in a financially attractive way.
All of the extra cost is financed, and the increase in the monthly loan payment is more than offset by the decreases in utility bills.
Where is the downside -- same down payment, lower total monthly ownership costs, better resale value, and comsiderably less greenhouse gas creation.
